Don't Feel Like Purring

In a morose mood tonight. More tired than anything else. Didn't sleep well, work crap weighing heavy on my mind. Erik's in WV and none of my furry children slept with me last night! No purr there!

Send me a purr story.........

  1. Okay - CHEERS!

My dear friend Janiece wanted to get her husband of 30 years a kitty for his birthday in December, even though she was emotionally exhausted after having nursed her last kitty through his final illness. She located a breeder of ragdoll siamese/Maine Coon cats in a little berg about 70 miles north of where we live, and called to ask if I'd join her in the pickup. I was totally in and volunteered to drive so she could bond with her new baby.

Several hours later we found ourselves horribly lost in some rural BANJO playing area, and badly needing to pee. We selected a church parking lot, which seemed appropriate at the time. Several cell phone calls later we finally located the breeder . . . in an unheated doublewide . . . .

There was something large & snarling in the kitchen ... probably a mastiff waiting to eat our faces. There was a pounding on the door and I thought on dear god, that's the scam. Get the suburban bitches trapped in an unheated doublewide on the pretense of buying kittehs and BAM take their cash & feed them to the mastiff in the kitchen. But --- it was only the UPS lady.

The kittens were produced for us to choose from. Two little males, with rheumy eyes and suspicious coughs. I said to my friend "Isn't it best to adopt kittens in pairs" and "I HAVE MY CHECKBOOK WITH ME". We convinced the desperate and sad breeder to accept a personal check and off we went with the babies. Turns out she had multiple sclerosis (we all do here in the northwest) and no health insurance. So we saved the kittehs and probably paid her heating bill for the month. Do you know what a ragdoll siamese goes for these days?

Anyway, the kittehs are thriving due to having hit the Trifecta going to this loving new home.

Crises averted. Life is short. Love kitties when you can. Tommorow will be better. Video of the surprised & very grateful husband can be seen at Youtube: it's called "Old Dad Gets His Kitties."

    XOXOXO
